New Census data that the Chicago region lost 6,000 people last year has been causing a media stir, but as Greg Hinz at Crain's rightfully points out, one statistic doesn't tell the whole story.

For our Data Points series, MPC's new director of research and evaluation, Alden Loury, shines a light on the interplay of segregation and stagnant growth, and how these challenges aren't contained inside Chicago's borders.
