Aurora Health Care Employer-Assisted Housing Program

Through a partnership with Select Milwaukee, Aurora Health Care has helped more than 350 employees buy homes in Milwaukee, Wisc. The hospital provides $3,000 in down payment assistance, as well as financial and homebuyer counseling (services provided by the nonprofit Select Milwaukee). Benefits to the hospital include increased workforce stability, productivity, and morale, better performing employees, improved retention, reduced turnover, and decreased training costs.

Dwight Morgan, senior vice president for human resources at Aurora Health Care, shared this presentation at the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority’s (WHEDA) multi-family housing conference Nov. 7, 2011. Here's my blog about the workforce housing session. The presentation provides lots of great information about Aurora's program and its successes.
