MPC releases RFP for Regional Traveler Information Kiosk project

The Metropolitan Planning Council is seeking a consultant to design and implement a regional traveler information kiosk demonstration project.

The Metropolitan Planning Council released a request for proposals Monday seeking a consultant to design and implement a transit kiosk demonstration project.

The Regional Traveler Information Kiosk project will create a data source that ties together information on entertainment and cultural activities in the downtown area with real-time transit information.  Ultimately, this data will be available to the public through the placement of Web-enabled kiosks in the downtown area. Organizers hope the new kiosks will both be an asset for Chicago-area residents and make the city's transit and cultural activities more accessible to visitors.

Proposals are due Nov. 4, 2002.  A contract will be awarded for the project later that month.  The kiosks are currently projected to be placed at five pilot sites by spring 2003.  Click here to download the RFP advertisement.
