Bindu Batchu takes the helm of Network 21: Quality Schools for Stronger Communities, after two years as technology associate for the Metropolitan Planning Council.
Network 21: Quality Schools for Stronger
Communities welcomes Bindu Batchu as its new manager. Batchu has been
technology associate with the Metropolitan Planning Council for the past two
years. In this position she worked with many Network 21 members by leading
the coalition's education technology agenda. She is also author of
the 2002 report Developing an Education Technology Agenda for
Illinois, which received widespread support throughout the
education community and coverage
in the
Chicago Tribune.
Batchu's previous responsibilities also included leading an innovative
community technology program in partnership with Chicago Commons, Centers for New
Horizons, Onward Neighborhood House and Street-Level Youth Media. She also helped
lead MPC's work with the City of Chicago on CivicNet and a broadband demand
research study, and provided leadership to community technology centers developing
policy agendas.
Batchu succeeds Leslie
Lipschultz who resigned from Network 21 in January after helping build
the coalition to more than 50 members. Lipschultz also helped Network 21 achieve recognition as the
leading coalition voice on education funding and quality reform in
the State of Illinois.
