The Metropolitan Planning Council is delighted to announce it has rescheduled its 2004 Annual Meeting Luncheon for Oct. 7, 2004. Illinois’ candidates for U.S. Senate - former U.N. Ambassador Alan Keyes (R-Calumet City) and Ill. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Chicago) - will be the featured speakers.
The rescheduled date for
the Metropolitan Planning Council’s 2004 Annual Meeting Luncheon is October 7,
2004. Illinois’ candidates for U.S. Senate - former U.N. Ambassador Alan Keyes
(R-Calumet City) and Ill. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Chicago) - will be the featured
speakers.
Originally
scheduled for July 15, as a forum with Sen. Obama and Republican nominee Jack
Ryan, the rescheduled luncheon will retain its original format. In what promises to
be a lively and provocative presentation, Mr. Keyes and Sen. Obama will
share their perspectives on the federal government’s role in addressing issues critical
to businesses and residents in the Chicago region, including transportation,
workforce housing, quality education, and economic opportunity. MPC will present its Burnham Award for
Excellence in Planning to the City of Chicago for its Calumet Area Land Use Plan
and Calumet Design Guidelines.
MPC's Annual Meeting is
chaired by Tyrone C. Fahner, chairman of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP, and
Terry E. Perucca, president of Bank of America Illinois. It will begin with a
reception at 11:15 a.m., followed by the luncheon from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. The
event will take place at the Chicago Hilton & Towers, 720 South Michigan
Avenue.
Those who previously
registered for the July 15 event will receive a registration confirmation form
that will need to be completed and returned to reserve your seat(s) or table(s)
at the Oct. 7 luncheon.
The
Annual Meeting Luncheon is MPC’s sole fundraising event. Sponsorships are
available, ranging from $500 to $20,000. General admission tickets are $100;
