Homes for Working Families releases "Understanding Employer-Assisted Housing: A Guidebook for Employers," co-authored by MPC

The national case studies featured in this guidebook, including two Chicago-area pioneers, further illustrate the versatility and impact of quality Employer-Assisted Housing programs.

Homes for Working Families released Understanding Employer-Assisted Housing:  A Guidebook for Employers, co-authored by the Metropolitan Planning Council, on Feb. 11, in Washington D.C.   The 14 employers featured in this guidebook, including two from theChicago region, were honored at this event as 2008 Pioneer Award winners.

 

Homes for Working Families was a national nonprofit organization focused on improving home affordability for families earning between 60 and 120 percent of the area median income.

 

In a recent press release , the organization announced its decision to honor the following employers with 2008 Pioneer Awards:

 

• Aflac – Columbus, Ga.• Applied Materials, Inc. – Santa Clara, Calif.• Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP (Formerly Hatch & Parent) – Santa Barbara, Calif.• Citizens Financial Group, Inc. – Providence, R.I.• City of Columbia, S.C.• City of Seattle, Wash.• CVS Caremark – Washington, D.C.• Harley-Davidson Motor Company – Milwaukee, Wis.• Johns Hopkins University – Baltimore, Md.• Northrop Grumman Corporation – Long Island, N.Y. & Pascagoula, Miss.• The Schwan Food Company – Marshall, Minn.• System Sensor/Honeywell – St. Charles, Ill.• UNITE HERE Local 226 – Las Vegas, Nev.• University of Chicago and University of Chicago Medical Center – Chicago, Ill.

MPC was delighted to be selected as a co-author of the guidebook, an opportunity to illustrate the expanding “menu of options” for employers interested in investing in housing solutions for their workers.  The diversity of employers, marketplaces and strategies included in the guidebook reflect the versatility of Employer-Assisted Housing (EAH) as an effective way to provide homes for working families.
