MPC will provide perspective on issues gaining traction with legislators, including what it will take to pass a new state capital plan and reform our school funding and property tax systems this session
(Chicago) … Reporters are invited to attend the
Metropolitan Planning Council’s (MPC) January media briefing to learn more about
issues topping legislators’ agendas for the 95 th Illinois General Assembly. Now
that elections are over, find out how lawmakers plan to make good on campaign
promises at this lunchtime briefing, Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, noon to 1:30
p.m., at MPC offices, 25 E. Washington St., Suite 1600, Chicago
.
At
the briefing, MPC senior staff members will provide background and forecasts for
issues already capturing the attention of lawmakers, including school funding
and property tax reform; public transportation funding; a new state capital
investment package; sustainable land use planning; and workforce housing.
Staff will discuss challenges facing key
bills expected to be introduced, and identify lawmakers who are emerging as
champions of these issues.
