Chicagoland faces a stormwater management triple threat: increasing amounts of impervious surfaces that direct rain into our sewers, aging infrastructure that needs maintenance, and increasingly frequent and more intense storms. Municipalities need stormwater programs with dedicated sources of revenue to avoid costly property damage, street flooding and emergency repairs.

Steady Streams, a new guide from the Metropolitan Planning Council, will help local leaders:

  • Understand the need for dedicated stormwater funding today
  • Identify what funding options are available
  • Leverage these funds to finance capital improvements
  • Learn from peers about successful implementation
