Prioritizing the People’s Budget

As COVID-19 stretches government budgets, mistrust in police, unemployment, and illness frame a daily reality for many Chicagoans. So how can our public expenditures match our collective priorities? This session highlights the work of three efforts to seek public feedback about the City budget, the People’s Budget Project, Participatory Budgeting in Rogers Park, and the Budget Ambassador’s engagement effort by the Mayor's office. Let's talk about how participatory budgeting can inform Chicago's investments in safe and thriving communities.
