HUD establishes new fair market rent levels

Fair market rent (FMR) levels determine how much families receiving Housing Choice Vouchers can spend on rent. New Chicago region FMR levels took effect Oct. 1, 2000.
HUD's new fair market rent (FMR) levels for the Chicago region, which determine rents for families receiving Housing Choice Vouchers, took effect October 1, 2000.  The FMR for a studio apartment is now $581; the FMR for a 1 bedroom is $661; the FMR for a 2 bedroom unit is $788; the FMR for a 3 bedroom is $985; the FMR for a 4 bedroom is $1102.  These figures apply to the six-county Chicago region, including Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will Counties.
