HUD's new fair market rent (FMR) levels for the Chicago region, which
determine rents for families receiving Housing Choice Vouchers, took effect
October 1, 2000. The FMR for a studio apartment is now $581; the FMR for a
1 bedroom is $661; the FMR for a 2 bedroom unit is $788; the FMR for a 3 bedroom
is $985; the FMR for a 4 bedroom is $1102. These figures apply to the
six-county Chicago region, including Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will
Counties.
