Community Vision Award 2004 Recognizes Block Y and Hometown Aurora

Metropolitan Planning Council joins with Urban Land Institute Chicago and Homebuilders Association of Greater Chicago for first-time award

The Community Vision Award recognizes projects and communities that demonstrate excellence in five key areas: location; density and design; access and transportation; environment and public benefits. The award is a joint initiative of MPC, Urban Land Institute Chicago (ULI Chicago) and the Homebuilders Association of Greater Chicago (HBAGC).

This first-time award is envisioned to be given annually, and was made public at the 32nd Annual HBAGC Key Awards on Oct. 8. In 2004, the jury decided to award one urban/infill project and one suburban/new development project. The two award recipients in 2004 are:

Block Y, developed by Thrush Realty Inc, designed by Fitzgerald Associates Archtects and built by Thrush Construction Inc.; and

Hometown Aurora developed by Perry Bigelow Homes, designed by Bigelow Homes and built by Bigelow Homes.
