MPC staff and board members contributed several pieces to this tour de force on metropolitan Chicago.
The Urban Land Institute (ULI) will host its annual
conference in Chicago this year, and, per tradition, the latest issue of Urban Land magazine
focuses on the
host city. Thanks to MPC Board members and ULI trustees Mary Ludgin and
Jacques Gordon, who served as journeymen editors for the issue, the magazine is a tour
de force for the city as a whole, and also for MPC.
In addition to the cover story, “Urban Evolution,” penned by Ludgin and
Gordon, MPC provided content for several other articles in the magazine. MPC
President MarySue Barrett authored a piece on regional cooperation, MPC Vice
President of Policy and Planning Scott Goldstein wrote a case study of
redevelopment in south suburban Riverdale, and MPC Housing Director Robin
Snyderman analyzed the Chicago Housing Authority’s Plan for Transformation. MPC
Board member Linda Goodman co-wrote a piece on updating Chicago’s Central Area
Plan. And Campaign for
Sensible Growth Manager Michael Davidson weighed in on how metropolitan
Chicago has become a leader in green development.
The issue also features a note from Mayor Richard M. Daley, a story on the
city's Olympics bid, and an article on public-private partnerships.
The entire issue is available online,
and you can visit the
Opinion
