Vote for Chicago's 2010-2011 vehicle sticker, an homage to Daniel Burnham

When you work for an organization that's all about Chicago-area development and planning, it doesn't take long to get to know the story of Daniel H. Burnham and his 1909 Plan of Chicago. After all, MPC named our prestigious annual award -- the Burnham Award for Excellence in Planning, given annually to honor innovative and visionary planning efforts in the metropolitan region -- in honor of the man.

So imagine our delight when we found out Chicago City Clerk Miguel del Valle chose "Burnham's Chicago" as the theme of this year's Vehicle Sticker Art Design Contest. The theme was selected to commemorate the Burnham Centennial.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported the contest drew 312 entries from students at 39 Chicago high schools. Now you can vote for your favorite among the 10 finalists at the City's Clerk's web site. The winning student's artwork will be featured on 2010-'11 city stickers starting in June. The winner and runners-up also will receive savings bonds.

MPC staff members have a variety of opinions about which sticker is the best. What's your favorite and why?

Awesome news! I agree with them choosing Burnham's Chicago as the theme of this year's Vehicle Sticker Art Design Contest is a great choice.
