The 16th Annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards are coming up on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. This awards ceremony celebrates the successes of for-profit and nonprofit developers in creating great communities in Chicago-area neighborhoods, and recognizes best practices in community design, landscape design and architecture.
I worked on a team of CNDA judges to evaluate applicants’ achievements in neighborhood real estate development and community building.
The CNDA Awards and Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design are a celebration of the enduring legacy of the grand visions and first-rate craftsmanship that produced the building blocks of the city making growth and revitalization. This event brings together business, government, real estate, nonprofit and philanthropic leaders to increase interaction and cooperation, and to strengthen and expand neighborhood-based development activities in Chicago. To kick things off, a discussion panel including Ald. Toni Preckwinkle, Raul Raymundo (The Resurrection Project), and Scott Myers (World Sport Chicago) will explore how Chicago neighborhoods can chart their own course for future economic and community development.
