Voices for Illinois Children looks at Gov. Quinn's preliminary budget numbers

The Budget & Tax Policy Initiative at Voices for Illinois Children has published a new issue brief  that analyzes Gov. Pat Quinn’s preliminary budget plan for Fiscal Year 2011.  In the absence of new revenue, the General Funds deficit for next year will be $11.5 billion, even with prospective spending cuts of $2 billion.

Voices finds that education programs are slated to face a 14 percent cut and human services an 8 percent cut.
