Tell the Tollway what you think about new capital plan

The Illinois Tollway just released its proposed $12 billion, 15-year capital program.  The proposal will rebuild the 52-year-old system of roads, relieve congestion, improve mobility, and expand where people and jobs are demanding new connections, such as the Elgin O’Hare West Bypass.  The plan also makes the most of our entire transportation network by collaborating with partner agencies to explore mass transit and managed lanes on toll roads.

Other major projects include rebuilding the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) linking Rockford to O’Hare Airport, and a constructing a new interchange to connect I-294 to I-57 – one of only two places in the nation where interstates cross but do not connect.

This capital plan will create more than 120,000 permanent jobs and add $21 billion to the economy over the next decade. It also calls for increasing tolls by 35 cents; current rates have been unchanged since 1983.

Read the proposal and then send the Tollway your thoughts by clicking here.
