Tell us: What are you thankful for in 2012?

Turkey Day is fast approaching, and the holiday season is an ideal time to reflect on the year’s progress and accomplishments. At the Metropolitan Planning Council, we are grateful for a cornucopia of 2012 policy and planning achievements, how this progress is improving our lives, and how each forward step contributes to a sustainable and prosperous Chicago region. We know what we are thankful for: public transit investments and improved bike routes to make our commutes better, new parks that make it fun to be outdoors (even in unexpected placeslike parking spots!), abundant freshwater resources, and so much more.

What are you thankful for this year? Let us know how smart policies and sound planning have affected your life in 2012! Submit your answers in a brief video! Just use your trusty smartphone or tablet, and remember to tell us your name, where the project is located, and provide some context. Please upload your entries to YouTube and share the link with us via FacebookTwitter or by email.

The first 10 submissions will receive some awesome MPC swag: a steel water bottle and fun tote bag. Five additional winners will be chosen from the entries received by Nov. 30.

Not sure what to submit? Need inspiration? Check out what staff at MPC are thankful for!

While they might live in any of the suburban areas (New Jersey, Long Island, Westchester), the tacipyl image is that of one of the Westchester suburbs, such as Rye or Harrison. The area is quite affluent and professional, although not necessarily filled with mansions. Another possibility is one of the nice Northern New Jersey suburbs, such as Madison. Figure a town close to a commuter train station from where the professional could get into the city in under an hour.
