Gov. Pat Quinn and Bruce Rauner will discuss metropolitan Chicago’s future at the Metropolitan Planning Council’s 2014 Annual Luncheon 8/28

MPC will recognize W. James Farrell, retired CEO and chairman of Illinois Tool Works Inc., with the Champion Fighter Award

(Chicago)… Illinois’ governor will face multiple challenges over the next four years, such as aging transportation and water infrastructure, the suburbanization of poverty and a $2 billion budget gap in FY2015. The two major party candidates for governor of Illinois, Gov. Pat Quinn (D) and businessman Bruce Rauner (R), will respond to these challenges at the Metropolitan Planning Council’s (MPC) 2014 Annual Luncheon. The non-debate format is in keeping with MPC’s tradition to provide a forum for candidates in key statewide races to share their plans, vision and priorities to secure a strong future for metropolitan Chicago's economy, communities, natural assets and infrastructure.

During the luncheon, MPC Board member Lester Crown will present MPC’s 80th Anniversary Champion Fighter Award to W. James Farrell, former CEO of Illinois Tool Works Inc., for his extraordinary civic contributions to the Chicago region.

For 80 years, the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) has brought government, community and business leaders together to develop workable solutions to our region’s toughest planning and development challenges. Please join us as we commemorate this milestone anniversary at our Annual Luncheon.
