Great Rivers Chicago to release first unified vision for Chicago’s three rivers

(Chicago)…Great Rivers Chicago—an initiative of the City of Chicago and Metropolitan Planning Council, in partnership with Friends of the Chicago River, Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and many others—will release Our Great Rivers, a vision for Chicago’s three rivers, at a news conference on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, 10:30 a.m., at the WMS Boathouse at Clark Park, 3400 N. Rockwell St., Chicago.

Our Great Rivers will be the first City document to establish a unified vision for all three of Chicago’s rivers: the Calumet, Chicago and Des Plaines. This vision, which was based on research, related plans and input from more than 6,000 Chicagoans between March 2015 and June 2016, will identify goals to guide economic development, recreation and open space, and environmental improvements between now and 2040.

Great Rivers Chicago is made possible through the generous support of ArcelorMittal, Boeing, The Chicago Community Trust, The Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation and The Joyce Foundation.
