(Chicago) … The Metropolitan Planning Council’s (MPC) 2016 Annual Luncheon, “Challenging Inequality, Driving Growth: The Economic Implications of Segregation,” will take place Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Chicago, featuring a conversation between Ford Foundation President Darren Walker and John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation President Julia Stasch on metropolitan strategies that both challenge inequality and provide greater economic opportunities for residents of all incomes.
At the luncheon, MPC will honor the transforming community of Pullman on Chicago’s South Side with our 2016 Burnham Award, which encourages sensible growth by honoring innovative and visionary planning and implementation efforts in the Chicago metropolitan region. We also will recognize Harris Holdings, Inc., Chairman, and MPC Senior Fellow and Board member King Harris with our 2016 Champion Fighter Award for his civic leadership.
