New faces deepen MPC’s commitment to our region

Metropolitan Planning Council

Could any of us have imagined how drastically our lives would change over the past two weeks? Individually and collectively, we are struggling to find ways to adjust to this new version of normal. At MPC, we are engaging with our partners across government, philanthropy, civic, and media organizations to inform critical near-term decisions and the policy changes needed to emerge stronger. We are working hard to utilize our wealth of data and our network of relationships to inform real-time and high-stakes decisions that will benefit our region’s employers, workers and communities.

Could any of us have imagined how drastically our lives would change over the past two weeks?

We feel the full weight of responsibility to leverage our knowledge and our networks to ensure that our most vulnerable people and places are kept in the conversation. Many of you, and others who have never made a philanthropic gift to MPC, are asking how you can help this 86-year-old organization continue to be a source of valuable information during this unprecedented time. With the importance of the work of MPC being better understood now than ever, we ask for your help to support our mission of building a better, bolder, more equitable future for everyone.

We are enormously grateful for the critical contributions of MPC’s dedicated staff and Board of Governors. All of us are thrilled to announce two new MPC leaders who will play pivotal roles in support of our mission, and who will ensure we can continue Making Positive Change. These new members of our management team will help “up our game’ as we do our part to raise awareness  and build buy-in for promising — and now urgently needed — solutions.

Amber Webb, VP of Philanthropy, is leading a team that strategizes and executes MPC’s philanthropic goals. Amber’s arrival to the organization in early 2020 comes at a critical time, as MPC is asked to do even more. Amber has over 20 years of experience in for-profit marketing, and business development leadership roles with Fortune 500 healthcare companies like Abbott. Following a career transition to follow her passions, most recently, Amber was the Vice President of Development and Marketing for Lawrence Hall, a $20 million social service agency.

Angel Leveston, Director of Marketing and Communications, is undertaking the creation of a communications strategy that focuses on delivering relevant and informative messages that distill the wealth of MPC data, expertise and solutions. She leads an MPC communications team that executes organization-wide messages, program-specific communications, and MPC events. Prior to joining MPC in March 2020, Angel was a marketing communications consultant who focused on creating strategies for mission-driven organizations including University of Chicago and philanthropic management consulting firm Grenzebach Glier & Assoc., supporting both marketing and fundraising communications initiatives.

Amber and Angel will ensure that MPC continues to guide policy changes needed to strengthen our region. We invite you to continue to look to MPC as a source for relevant information and ideas. We will be there with you, facilitating and informing conversations that answer our audiences’ most pressing questions.
