2020 Policy Priorities

Our recommendations for state, local and institutional policy change

MPC’s 2020 policy priorities are driven by our values of equity, sustainability, prosperity and effective, accountable government. Our overall slate of recommendations further these values by building off of several priorities at multiple levels of government, including the State of Illinois and City of Chicago.

For more than 85 years, MPC has worked to create prosperous, equitable and sustainable communities throughout northeastern Illinois and the Chicago region. The solutions we’ve implemented have resulted in vibrant neighborhoods, quality housing and transportation, a strong economy, well-managed natural assets, and efficient delivery of government services. This means advancing policy change at multiple levels of governmentthe State of Illinois, City of Chicago and many others. In 2020, the unprecedented level of transition in Springfield and Chicago presents an opportunity for our state, region and city to create growth that brings more shared prosperity, equity, and sustainability for everyone who lives and works here.

MPC has cataloged the challenges and opportunities facing the various levels of governance within our state and developed specific policy recommendations that would provide a way forward for us all.
