A new opportunity near the Howard CTA Station

In late 2020, residents helped plan the future of a city-owned lot at Howard and Ashland

Development works best when it serves the community. That's why leaders hosted a series of public conversations about an undeveloped parcel in Rogers Park. People have been tending a community garden on the land, adjacent to a Rogers Park CTA station, and leaders asked for public input on what redevelopment should look like.

This report captures the results of those conversations.

The 49th ward alderwoman, community members, and a team of development professionals came together in creating specific, realistic, community-based plans for the publicly owned parcel near the Howard CTA Station. People participated both in-person and online due to the pandemic and social distancing requirements. Virtual meeting recordings are available online.
