The Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) was thrilled to host the two main candidates for Illinois governor, Gov. Pat Quinn (D) and Bruce Rauner (R), at our Annual Luncheon on Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park. More than 1,000 civic, business and community leaders attended the luncheon to hear the candidates’ responses to questions about public finances, transportation funding, flooding, housing and government efficiency.
In addition to hosting the candidates, MPC presented W. James Farrell, retired CEO and chairman of Illinois Tool Works Inc., with our 80th Anniversary Champion Fighter Award for his determined work to ensure a sustainable, equitable and competitive future for the Chicago region.
The event was one of our best-attended luncheons, and we were happy to see so many familiar and new faces engaged in our issues. Thank you to everyone who made the event a success!
