Debate and discuss how we shape our urban environment
This is the town that Burnham built, that shattered all expectations with its World’s Fair, unleashed Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, inspired Sandburg’s “city of big shoulders” and Sinclair’s The Jungle, where stark inequalities birthed Addams’ settlement house, and where thronging masses cheered on the nation’s first African-American president one balmy November night in Grant Park. We have a lot to talk about.
MPC’s Urban Think & Drink provides a forum for discussion about the societal benefits of the built environment and enables a dialogue between residents and well-known thought and action leaders including artists, authors, planners and designers. This informal platform allows us to debate and discuss how we make our urban environments livable and vibrant. Past events have featured inspiring artists such as Candy Chang and Theaster Gates.
