MPC’s Samantha DeKoven, Project Manager, Employer-Assisted Housing, will be a speaker at this Workforce Housing panel.

Communities may quickly find themselves in need of expanded affordable housing opportunities to support their growing economy. The Metropolitan Planning Council will explain how employer-assisted housing can be used to increase affordability and promote homeownership opportunities for working families in your community - and how to successfully partner with employers to make this a reality. In addition, session participants will hear from two Iowa communities that have implemented successful plans to increase local workforce housing.

The purpose of this session is to address how Iowa communities can meet the demands of workforce housing locally, by knowing how to successfully partner with companies to make a win-win solution, what to think about when putting a plan together - as well as some best practices from Iowa communities that have employer-assisted housing initiatives in place.

Panelists:

  • Samantha DeKoven, Metropolitan Planning Council
  • David Heiar, City of Dubuque
  • Steve Long, UniverCity Neighborhood Partnership, Iowa City
