DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND, THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED FOR REGISTRATION. THE OCT. 18 EVENT IN ELGIN IS STILL OPEN.

This year's deadline for the Ill. Environmental Protection Agency's (IEPA) Illinois Green Infrastructure Grant Program for Stormwater Management (IGIG) is December 15, 2011.  The grant program will advance the use of innovative green infrastructure solutions for stormwater management.

The Metropolitan Planning Council is hosting two public workshops for prospective applicants and other interested parties to learn more about this exciting program.  IEPA staff will be on hand to explain the details of the grant program.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from project managers on two of the successful 2010 IGIG applications — Tom Price of the Conservation Design Forum will explain the Beverly Area Planning Association's $72,000 grant for a permeable parking lot and rain garden system, while the Metropolitan Planning Council's Josh Ellis will outline a $200,000 sub-granting program for property owners in a targeted area of Chicago's 35th Ward.

Registration capped at 100 for this workshop.  This workshop is free.  Prospective applicants include units of government, watershed planning groups, non-profit organizations, businesses, individuals and other entities eligible to receive state funds. You are welcome to attend both workshops, but the content will be comparable. Seating is limited, so you must register.

An additional workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 18, in Elgin. Register for that workshop here.
