This year's deadline for the Ill. Environmental Protection Agency's (IEPA) Illinois Green Infrastructure Grant Program for Stormwater Management (IGIG) is December 15, 2011.  The grant program will advance the use of innovative green infrastructure solutions for stormwater management.

The Metropolitan Planning Council is hosting two public workshops for prospective applicants and other interested parties to learn more about this exciting program.  IEPA staff will be on hand to explain the details of the grant program.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from project managers on two of the successful 2010 IGIG applications.  This workshop, held in partnership with the City of Elgin, will feature an examination of where its 2010 IGIG award — $634,000 for the Lord Street Basin CSO Green Infrastructure Retrofit — fits into Elgin's broader green infrastructure vision. An optional walking tour of downtown Elgin will follow.

Registration capped at 125 for this workshop.  This workshop is free.  Prospective applicants include units of government, watershed planning groups, non-profit organizations, businesses, individuals and other entities eligible to receive state funds. You are welcome to attend both workshops, but the content will be comparable. Seating is limited, so you must register.

An additional workshop will be held on Monday, October 17, in Chicago. Register for that workshop here.
