The Third Coast, Chicago.

Join us Thursday, June 6, from 5 to 7 p.m., for an evening of conversation as City Lit Books and MPC cohost Thomas Dyja, author of the recently famous book The Third Coast: When Chicago Built the American Dream. Critiqued (along with Chicago) in The New York Times Book Review by Rachel Shteir, the book has garnered homegrown respect here in the "Second City" for its candid portrayal of Chicago's tumultuous history.

Dyja provides a fascinating perspective on the period between World War II and 1960, when Chicago transformed the cultural and urban landscape, locally and nationally. It was a remarkable era and provides a lens through which we can consider Chicago’s subsequent evolution as well as its future on the world stage.

At the event, MPC Executive Vice President Peter Skosey will interview Dyja about his book and moderate a thought-provoking, entertaining and challenging discussion with you, our fellow Chicagoans.

Space is limited, so register online for this event today!
