MPC's Josh Ellis will speak at this event.

This event is an opportunity to learn more about managing stormwater on your property through sustainable landscaping techniques. For City of Chicago residents, it's also one last chance to receive instant rebates valued at $40 off the price of a RainReserve rain barrel and $42.40 off a compost bin. The Sustainable Backyards Program for rain barrel and compost bin cash rebate ends Jan. 31, 2014. Rain barrels and compost bins will be available for sale at the event or online @ www.rainreserve.com/chicago

Bryant Moroder of RainReserve, a US manufacturer and distributor of innovative rainwater harvesting systems, will introduce the benefits and how-tos of installing a rainwater harvesting system.

Josh Ellis, Program Director at the Metropolitan Planning Council, will explore results and lessons learned from the Milwaukee Avenue Green Development Corridor, a Logan Square-focused grant program that has funded 14 green stormwater infrastructure projects on public and private property.

Shawn Sinn, Director of Sustainability at ENVIRONMENTS STUDIO, built several of the projects supported by the Milwaukee Avenue Green Development Corridor and will share before/after transformations of landscapes in Logan Square, examining how combinations of stormwater management and landscaping practices, from rain barrels to rain gardens to porous paving, can work to provide greater ecological impact and aesthetic value.

This event is free and open to the public, but we do ask that you register in advance by RSVPing here
