Hear the people behind the winning submissions for MPC's "What Makes Your Place Great?" photo and video contest talk about their favorite space.

The Chicago region is full of great public spaces. This summer, the Metropolitan Planning Council asked residents of the region to submit photos or videos of their favorite public spaces to the “What Makes Your Place Great” contest. The response was overwhelming—more than 50 submissions from around the region—from gardens and public plazas to coffee shops and hiking trails—were nominated.

Come hear the people behind the winning submissions talk about the history of their favorite places, why they nominated them for the contest, and what they mean to them and their community.

This roundtable will be moderated by Mary Schmich from the Chicago Tribune and will feature the following speakers:

People’s Choice photo winner: Phillips Park, Aurora, Ill. Submitted by Amy Roth

People’s Choice video winner: The Shops of Long Grove, Long Grove, Ill. Submitted by Ami Shah

Grand Prize photo winner: Bush Community Garden of Hope, Chicago. Submitted by Sylvia Ortega

Grand Prize video winner: Drake Garden, Chicago. Submitted by Kallan Benjamin, Mary Kay Freese, and Jewel Otten
