In 2013, the City of Blue Island hosted a series of events to inform residents about the recent lease of 130 acres from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and to gather community input on how to transform the Cal-Sag into an inviting and scenic front yard for the community.  These events included public forums, place audits, and stakeholder meetings – all of which produced a wealth of input for the improvement of Blue Island’s waterfront.

In Blue Island’s final waterfront public meeting, leaders will share what they have heard and will gather any final ideas for the long-term waterfront development plan, which will be published in the coming months.  All residents, business owners, community stakeholders and supporters of Blue Island are welcome to attend.
