MPC's Breann Gala is on this event's Planning Committee.

In conjunction with an emerging national conversation on fair housing, community development, and access to opportunity, this convening aims to explore common ground among fair housing and community development organizations on policies and priorities that will improve regional equity and expand housing choices. This might include approaches that:

  • Help developers understand how evolving federal policies present new project opportunities,
  • Prevent displacement and preserve affordable housing in areas where property values are rising,
  • Break down barriers and empower housing developers to build affordable housing in high-opportunity areas,
  • Replicate successful comprehensive community and economic development in high-poverty areas,
  • Expand housing choice voucher and strategic project-based housing options,
  • Foster more connective transit networks to improve access to jobs and opportunity,
  • Improve partnerships and collaboration between fair housing agencies, developers, and community-based organizations, and
  • Influence government, philanthropic, and private investor interests to take more active roles in promoting inclusive growth, “opportunity-based development,” and regional equity.
