MPC Program Director Josh Ellis will speak at this event.
Chicago's location on the shore of Lake Michigan is no doubt one of the reasons our city has grown to the metropolis we know today. But with this locale comes a host of issues revolving around water: preventing the pollution of our drinking water in Lake Michigan, treating the vast amount wastewater that enters the sewer system, dealing with heavy rain that floods our streets and homes, and much more.
At this event, hosted by Windy City Sustainability and the University of Chicago's Leadership in Sustainability Management program, we will hear from some experts in their realm of water. With water becoming a scarce commodity around the globe, and with future forecasts becoming even more dire, water may be the biggest climate change issue of the coming decades.
Speakers:
- Debra Shore, Commissioner, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago
- Joel Brammeier, President and CEO, Alliance for the Great Lakes
- Josh Ellis, Program Director, Metropolitan Planning Council
