The new Chicago Riverwalk expansion downtown is creating buzz around the rest of the city's river system.

With the upcoming completion of the main branch of the Riverwalk, the City's long-held vision for our "second shoreline" is starting to come into focus. How will the designs for this six-block overhaul transform the former industrial waterway into a cherished public amenity?

Join the Chicago Architecture Foundation for a panel on this exciting topic, and hear about the Metropolitan Planning Council's Great Rivers Chicago initiative with the City of Chicago, Friends of the Chicago River and others to create a coordinated long-term vision for the city's rivers!

Panelists:

  • Carol Ross Barney, FAIA, Founder and Principal of Ross Barney Architects; architect of the Chicago Riverwalk
  • Benet Haller, Director, Urban Design and Planning at the City of Chicago
  • Margaret Frisbie, Executive Director, Friends of the Chicago River
  • Moderator: Chris Bentley, Midwest Editor of Architect’s Newspaper and WBEZ contributor
