MPC Director Josh Ellis will speak at this event.
This Resilient Chicago workshop will focus on actions local governments can take to address the issue of urban flooding in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. At this free one-day workshop, local government staff and other interested professionals will learn how they can better prepare for flooding by:
- Applying the No Adverse Impact (NAI) framework for floodplain management
- Fully integrating green infrastructure into community planning efforts
Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) Director Josh Ellis will present on why it is time to move past green infrastructure pilot studies and shift toward integrating green and gray infrastructure into capital improvement planning. Ellis will touch on the work of the Calumet Stormwater Collaborative—a group of municipalities and agencies in Chicago's southern suburbs working together to improve the governance and management of stormwater—to explain how this shift can be accomplished.
