Join the Skokie Library for an event on new urbanism.

New urbanism is a movement that emphasizes a richer quality of life through walkability, sustainability, eclecticism and organic growth. Learn about the basic principles of new urbanism as it applies in Skokie, Ill.

Speakers are:

  • Marisa Novara, director of the Metropolitan Planning Council's community development team;
  • Phil Nyden, Professor of Sociology and Director of Loyola University Chicago's Center for Urban Research and Learning;
  • Kyle Smith, manager for the Center for Neighborhood Technology's transit-oriented development initiative;
  • and Zach Borders.
