Illinois not only has the most units of government than any other state in the nation, but it also has one of the highest property tax burdens. Coincidence? Those who advocate for government effectiveness and efficiency know our proliferation of government and excessive property taxes are inextricably linked.
On October 2, Transform Illinois explores the connection between reducing the size, scope and cost of local government and Illinois’ property tax burden. Our 2019 Transformers—Senator Sue Rezin and Representative Rita Mayfield—will discuss legislation they introduced during the spring session to reduce the administrative cost burden of school districts in Illinois. In addition, we will hear from members of the newly created Property Tax Reform Task Force, including Representative Sam Yingling and Senator Don DeWitte. The Task Force is seeking ways to bring relief to property owners in advance of the 2020 ballot initiative to ask voters to create a graduated income tax structure.
Join us for a conversation that will set the table for reform-minded action in the General Assembly State Legislature in 2020.
Complimentary boxed lunches will be provided.
