The COVID-19 pandemic is causing everyone to stop, step back and reflect on the trends we have been experiencing. Now is a time for planners to think about how we can emerge from this crisis stronger and on a more sustainable path.

Join us for this event and two related events on May 5th, and May 12th about how to ensure Illinois’ water resilience, now and post-COVID-19.

As Illinois residents stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19, far too many are faced with the likelihood that spring rains will cause basement back-ups, flooded streets and yards, and other stormwater management issues that hurt people, property, and the environment. Planners and policy makers are considering how state and federal stimulus investments can include investments in water that will help protect our region and state against floods and improve water quality.

Join Metropolitan Planning Council, Natural Resources Defense Council, Elevate Energy and Equity Legal Services for a discussion about how COVID-19 has exposed vulnerabilities in our water systems when it comes to flooding and water quality—and how economic recovery can include investments that put people to work solving these challenges in communities statewide.

Registration is required. Event link will be included in your registration confirmation, please note you must be logged into your Eventbrite account to access link.
