More and more people are living alone these days. And according to Eric Klinenberg, a Professor of Sociology and Director of the Institute for Public Knowledge at New York University, planners and governments are unprepared. His book, Going Solo: The Extraordinary Rise and Surprising Appeal of Living Alone, explores the social, economic and even environmental benefits and challenges single dwellers bring to the places they call home. Critics have called Going Solo “cliché-shattering.”
Professor Klinenberg is well known for his work on cities, culture and climate change. Join us Tuesday, May 20, at 5 p.m., as he discusses his book and this new class of single dwellers’ implications for planning and development in the 21st Century.
Beer, wine and snacks will be provided. MPC thanks Goose Island Beer Company for libations.
The program will begin at 5:30 p.m., with time to mingle before and after. Come and enjoy a drink, a talk and good company. Space is limited, so RSVP today for only $15!
This event is generously sponsored by Wight & Company.
