In today’s highly partisan political climate, how do we implement the necessary policies to grow regions?
In Seeking Bipartisanship, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood chronicles his 36-year political career. As the only elected Republican selected for President Obama’s cabinet, Sec. LaHood sought to bridge the partisan divide between the new Democratic administration and Republicans on Capitol Hill. Under his leadership, the U.S. built or replaced 350,000 miles of highway and 6,000 miles of rail lines, enacted more stringent automobile fuel efficiency requirements and implemented the transformative TIGER program.
Join the Metropolitan Planning Council and Sec. LaHood for a night of frank discussion and sharp insight into his decades of experience in Washington and what must change in our politics today so that regions can grow.
Copies of Seeking Bipartisanship will be available for purchase at the event. Sec. LaHood will be available after the event to sign books.
