What does it take to develop a municipal bicycle or pedestrian plan? Why should your community develop one?  This virtual panel features leaders from across our region that have successfully planned, adopted, and implemented bike/ped plans. As part of the Taking Climate Action by Prioritizing Walking, Biking, and Transit event series, this panel delves into the intersections of regional climate action, local urban planning, mobility, and the built environment that we engage with everyday. Tune in on April 28 at Noon to learn more from Active Transportation Alliance about how to develop a community bike/ped plan and to hear about the experiences and best practices from local leaders who have prioritized biking and walking in their communities: Richton Park and Niles.

This event features insights into the Climate Action Plan for the Chicago Region by Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, an overview of bike/ped plans by Active Transportation Alliance, and a moderated panel on the challenges and successes of municipal bike/ped planning. This event features:

  • Nathan Bruemmer, Planner, Village of Niles
  • Kevin Burns (keynote speaker), Mayor, City of Geneva
  • Maggie Czerwinski, Advocacy Manager, Active Transportation Alliance
  • Regan Stockstell, Village Manager, Village of Richton Park
  • Audrey Wennink (moderator), Director of Transportation, MPC
