MPC in Springfield: Support legislation to authorize public-private partnerships

MPC paid a visit to Springfield yesterday, in part to support Ill. Sen. Heather Steans' (D-Chicago) bill, which would authorize public-private partnerships for new and existing transportation infrastructure, while requiring the Illinois General Assembly and an independent body to review and approve projects before signing any contracts.

Lawmakers approved a state capital bill last year, but Illinois still has extremely limited funds available for building new transportation infrastructure. As the state's budget continues to be strained, all options should be on the table.

Read more about why MPC supports Steans' bill in yesterday's letter to the Chicago Tribune, by MPC Vice President Peter Skosey.
