Regional Housing Initiative: West Cook County, includes parts of Chicago and Oak Park

North Avenue Redevelopment

North Avenue Redevelopment contains two separate properties located in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood. The first property contains 27 affordable apartments located in a recently rehabilitated warehouse unit, while the second property is expected to open in 2013 and will contain 33 newly rehabilitated apartmentsThe properties contain workout rooms, parking spaces, and are within walking distance to local grocery stores and Walgreens. Additionally, the 72 North Avenue bus stops directly in front of the building and can help families get downtown or to the Blue and Red line stations.  

G&A Spaulding, Chicago

G&A Spaulding is a newer development located at 1750 N. Spaulding Ave. in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood. The 36-unit development offers two- and three-bedroom apartments, indoor heated parking, and on-site laundry facilities. The apartments are conveniently close to a range of a amenities and Chicago's downtown. 

Nuestro Hogar, Chicago

Nuestro Hogar consists of two recently rehabilitated buildings located in Chicago's Humboldt Park area. The first property is at 3652 Wabansia and the other is located at 4010 Kamerling.The development is 100 percent affordable to households making less than 60 percent of the Area Median Income and is a welcome resource in a neighborhood experiencing rapid growth and rent increases. The developments are managed by Bickerdike Development, and the staff can assist households with obtaining the neccessary social services, health services, and employment training needed. Additionally, the developments are conveniently close to major bus lines that can connect families to employment centers and downtown. 

Grove Apartments, Oak Park

    Hi Kisha and others-- Grove Apartments will not be available till fall of 2014. I'm sorry for the delayed construction. In the meantime, you are still eligible to put your name on the other regional waiting lists if they interest you. All Oak Park Housing Authority waiting list families are permitted to live in any of the developments across the region.

    Hello, I currently live in Dupage county, Warrenville will it be any properties available in the Dupage county area anytime soon, I am currently on the Dupage county section 8 waiting list? And do you have any information on the section 8 waiting list for Dupage county as far as when will they start their calling.

    I filled out a application with Chicago Housing Authority but it was for public housing. Do I still qualify to be put on the waiting list?

    I mailed my application in on April 19,2012. I don't think it made it on time. So I faxed a new application. With I still be put on waiting list or its to late?

    Hi Janet-- you still qualify to be put on the waitlist. The application for CHA applicants was due April 20th though so hopefully you applied on time.

    Latoya- If we received your fax by April 20th, you should be fine. Someone from Housing Choice Partners will call to follow-up.

    Hi I have a question. I saw the posting for housing application yesterday. I know it stated submit by April 20th but I faxed a application over yesterday April 30th. Do I still have a chance to get put on the waiting list?

    Hi, My name is Melody Lewis and I was told I would her from someone the first week in May. I am patiently waiting. I understand the Grove apartments in Oak Park will not be available til 2014, if I am still in the program, can I move back to Oak Park?

    Hi Mamie, The application for all housing authorities waiting list families was April 20th (except Waukegan housing authority). I apologize if you missed the date and wish you the best of luck. If you are from Waukegan Housing Authority, April 30th was fine for faxing. Thanks!

    Hi Melody, I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. Grove Apartments is a supportive housing site for individuals. If you do qualify when it opens and are selected, you can move back in to Oak Park then. Thanks!

    Hello, I have a question/concern. my application was received by you all on Wednesday, April 18th 2012. Someone called me to inform me that the application was received. Ive tried to call the office and left messages, but Im unable to reach an actual person on the number that was listed on the bottom of the application. Should I be concerned ifI havent gotten more papers or info?

    hi, someone call me but i wasnt at home i tryed to call back but im unable to reach anyone i wanted to know what the call was about and when will they start calling people for apartment and will i be on the waiting list for some years cause i been on the wating list for three years to get an apartment

    I have been on the waitlist for cook county housing section 8 since 2002 and I dont know my position on the list or anything all I receive to let me know that I must be still on the list is a letter every few years asking if I want to stay on the list. Is there a number to call to reach someone to see whats going on with the list to see if I have come close to the top of the list yet??
